Pine Valley is one of Wilmington’s most sought after neighborhoods. Located just south of midtown, it is conveniently situated between South College Rd. and South 17th Street. A quick drive through this lovely area is like a mini-history lesson of sorts thanks to street names such as Beaureguard, Jeb Stuart, Pettigrew and Stonewall Jackson. Pine Valley actually sprang up around the beautifully designed Pine Valley Country Club and its heralded 18-hole golf course, which was built in 1955. Along with being minutes from so much that the Port City has to offer, this tastefully designed, established community is also situated along the Gary Shell Cross-City Trail, which provides bicycle and pedestrian connections from Wade Park, nearby Halyburton Park and Empie Park to the Heide-Trask Drawbridge which spans the Intracoastal Waterway.
Single-family homes are the predominant property option and most are traditional styles such as brick ranch, Colonial and Georgian. Larger lots with plenty of lush native plantings are also par for the course throughout Pine Valley. Lots are large and feature healthy stands of hardwoods and longleaf pines, plus dogwoods, azaleas, crape myrtles and perennials that make quite a show during the spring and summer months. There is some new construction in Pine Valley, however, most properties are lovingly maintained older homes that have been updated and upgraded to meet the needs of today’s young home buyers.
