As neighborhoods go, it may not be huge, but Wilmington’s Mason Bend is a delightful place to settle into the coastal lifestyle. Located in the Masonboro community along the southeastern quadrant of New Hanover County, Mason Bend is a cozy cul-de-sac subdivision and currently has just under 20 homes.
Properties typically range in size from 2,400 to nearly 4,000 square feet. Most all were custom built and the predominant architectural styles are traditional ones including Cape Cod, Arts and Crafts and low country cottage. Although it is a relatively new development, home prices are quite affordable, especially considering the attention to detail that each residence reflects. Many homebuyers would expect to pay much more for features such as spa-like master baths, top of the line appliances, gourmet kitchens, custom cabinetry, loads of storage and tasteful outdoor entertaining areas. Extras abound in the way of sunrooms, outdoor showers, bonus rooms and beautifully landscaped lots.
One trip through the thoughtfully designed entrance of Mason Bend and one thing is clear: homeowners here cherish their private retreat! The well-kept common areas are lush with river birch, native shrubs and an ever-changing array of colorful annuals. Since it’s a cul-de-sac, it’s also a very walkable neighborhood. And…because Mason Bend is just a hop, skip and a jump from the Intracoastal Waterway and nearby beaches, having fun in the sun or a day on the water is an easy option!
