There is something to be said for older neighborhoods. Classic architecture, larger lots and established landscaping are frequently just a few of the benefits. Wilmington’s Landsdowne Estates is a prime example of why newer isn’t always better! The subdivision began in the late 1960s in the then undeveloped area off of South College Road. Construction continued through the 1990s as new residents flocked to this thoughtfully designed neighborhood. Today, lucky buyers are very fortunate to stumble on a Landsdowne listing because folks here know they have a good thing and tend to stay put!
Properties in Landsdowne Estates are situated on tastefully landscaped lots that reflect its genteel Southern charm. Mature hardwoods plus dogwoods, crape myrtles, azaleas and acres of perennials, ensure a year round show of color. Most of the homes here are traditional and reflect several architectural styles including French Country, Georgian, Williamsburg, transitional and brick ranch. There are even a few single story and split-level homes to choose from! Spacious floor plans that include large rooms, formal areas, custom details and plenty of space for outdoor entertaining are a few more reasons why this has remained a “hot” area.
Prices have tended to range from $150,00 to $300,000+. Convenience may the key considering that Lansdowne is minutes from downtown, area beaches, medical facilities, and a multitude of shopping and dining experiences. It is also close to Halyburton Park, the Cross City Trail and Pine Valley Country Club. And…it is no problem to get out and enjoy the mild climate and fresh air because much of Landsdowne Estates has very little thru traffic which makes it very walkable and bike friendly.
